Nursing qualifications

I qualified as a Nurse in Dublin in 1996 following training in the Adelaide Hospital Dublin (now closed and moved to the Tallaght Hospital). Following stints as a qualified nurse in the Adelaide hospital, Queen Mary’s in Roehampton working on the general wards, I moved to Kingston Hospital to work in the Intensive and Coronary Care Unit. After a few years in London, I moved to Yorkshire to work in ‘Jimmy’s’ (St James) predominantly, in the Intensive Care Unit, but also at Leeds General Infirmary. I started studying again after a few party years in London and did a higher diploma, a BSc in nursing Practice and then had a wee break, before doing a Master in Nursing Practice all in the University of Leeds. I then moved to Airedale to do Critical Care Outreach and did my prescribing course. Along the way, I have had many opportunities to do differing roles with my primary roles, I’ve been involved in rotation programs, education for new starters to Intensive Care, taught for many hours on Advanced Life Support and other formal and informal basis. Alongside all of this, I cared for many, many patients, learning more about people and how they behave and why: what inspires them and how to help them change their lives for the better. Any frustrations have been counterbalanced by using these opportunities to learn how to help folk in different ways to change and look after themselves better.

During  this time I have done many, many courses: the most recent and relevant are a Level Two course in Nutrition through Morley College in London: a course called Nutrition for Health: evidence based tools and strategies (this programme is facilitated by Dr Frederica Amati Head Nutrition from the Zoem the Science and Nutrition company. And I am currently studying a Level Three course in Health Coaching.
